Made For You

Hi bloggers!  I had almost forgotten about this card that I did for a demo in September.  I came across it in my files and I had to go back and look as I thought I had posted it long ago.  I loved this demo as the stained glass look was so easy to do with Becca Feeken's Lacey Tier dies.  To create this look, I cut one of the circle Lacey Tier dies out of black card.  I glued this on to a piece of acetate using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.  From the back of the acetate, I decided which sections I wanted to be each particular colour and starting with the darkest colour first, I filled in that area with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue, taking care not to go over the line into the next area.  I covered the glue with the polished silk glitter (gunmetal grey was my first colour), then tapped off the excess.  The reason that I always do the darkest colour first when doing this technique is when tapping off your excess sometimes the glitter will stick on top of other colours and a dark colour can change the overall look of some glitter colours.  Whereas a lighter glitter that settles on top of a darker glitter will not cause that issue.  Make sense?  Next I added the sections that are gold followed by the pale silver, then finishing with the white glittered sections.  I set this aside to dry overnight and once the glue is completely dry, the glitter colours show through and look like a stained glass window.  I added two frames cut from soft gold card using the square frame from the Lacey Tiers.  I off set them and glued them together.  Then I made a circular frame by cutting two basic circles and embossing the piece with the Gold Circles One die.  I mounted it on foam pieces and placed it over my stained glass window.  The focal element was placed on a white embossed background made using the Tapestry embossing folder.  I cut a border from the Scalloped Borders Two and added it below my stained glass window.  I made a pretty rose following the tutorial at the top of my blog and "sugared" it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I seated the rose atop a messy bow tied from black seam binding and I tucked in a tag with a stamped sentiment.  A couple of  swirls from the Jewelled Flowers set finished the bow.  Some flatback pearls in the corners and a double pierced mat of soft gold card gave a nice regal finishing touch to the card.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9" in size.

A quick note, I haven't heard from either of the Wednesday Card Giveaway winners yet, so Shazza and Liz Spooner, please email me if you see this!

It has suddenly occurred to me that I now have something for every day of the week but Monday.  Between the videos three times a week, the card giveaway, the comment game winners, and double card day on Friday, poor Monday is feeling a bit left out.  I thought I would see if anyone has any ideas for a special feature on Mondays?  What do you think?  All for now,
 Sue x

Good morning Sue and all Wilsonettes. Another beautiful card Sue, thanks for all you do for us. This may seem a stupid Idea considering you are our Spellbinder Queen, Um not sure uf Im the odd one out but due to finances I cannot afford to keep up with buying all the dies and stamps to make these magnificant cards so Im ashamed to say I only own 3 of your dies. The D-lite small tree, a set of ornate ovals and a set of 3 border dies, so consequently my ideas are limited. Would it be an idea to 'go back to basics' for not only new crafting Wilsonettes but also for your followers that have limited craft toys and limited 'stash' and limited funds to spend ? Hope my thoughts have not upset or angered my fellow Wilsonettes. The card you have given us today Sue is stunning and I can only dream of having half your talent. Your cards are second to non. Looking forward to watching the Creative Expressions shows today so hopefully I can add to my birthday/Christmas 'wish list'

Have a lovely Monday everyone.
Hugs to all.

Hi Sue,

Hopefully the card winners will contact you, if not, I could give them a really lovely home ha ha.

Good morning Sue. Beautiful card, and I agree that the colours would suit a male card as well. It seems that everyone is agreed on revisiting older dies, which would revitalise our stash. Hi Sue. I love this card, and I remember the demo. It is very kind of you to want to do something extra on a Monday. Thank you. I thought about "Make up Monday" (really struggling to come up with a name, lol) when you show us how one die/die set can be used for more than just the obvious. For example, the bird cage becoming a space rocket. Then I read the other comments and I love the idea of looking at revisiting older dies too! You will do us proud with whatever you decide Sue. Take care.

Hi Sue. Luckily I have recently ordered the Lacey tier dies and scalloped borders and am eagerly awaiting delivery. As soon as I get them I will try making this beautiful project for my brother's birthday (minus the bow!). I like the idea of retro Monday. I was also wondering about a short flower tutorial - yours are always beautiful and there are so many flower dies out there. Another theme to consider maybe is "Male Mondays". I really struggle to make these cards when the dies are so ornate and you can't fill in blank spaces with a bow. Whatever you choose though will be fantastic , we are just lucky that you love sharing your talent and creativity. x

Hi Sue. WOW !! Todays card is absolutely gorgeous !! I used to do this technique with medalion stamps and glitters when I first started crafting. I love all your matting layers. I think you do far to much for us wilsonettes as it is. I always really appreciate all your hard work that you put into this blog. If you are going to do something then I definately agree with many of the other wilsonettes that a golden oldie Monday where you make cards using the older dies is a fantastic idea. I don't have that much money and I am constantly struggling to keep up with all the latest dies and stuff coming out. I do also like the idea of "male Monday" where you show cards for men is also a good idea but I think a golden oldie Monday is a winner for me. Thankyou for every thing you do Love Tres x x x

My favourite will always be White/White or Black/White, but at long last I have found some petite floral papers in muted colours, and cammot wait to have a go with these!
Who am I to suggest another box to tick, but you did ask!
Thank you so much for allowing us share with you your wonderful talent!

What about making a day where your readers can make a wish for something special, you can show us??? Then maybe people could write you and ask you to show something, they particularly would like to have a closer look at, like when I asked you if you would show close up, how you did the very thin bow veawed into the big bow??? I´m sure, there´s a lot more than me, who sometimes have a special detail, they would like to have explained better or have a closer look at????

Hi Sue

I loved this card when I saw you demo it on C & C. I think a card using older dies is a fantastic idea. we tend to forget about older dies we have in our stashes. New ideas on how we can use them would be very useful Sue.

I just love the glitter colours. It makes the design pop out. Thanks for your generosity.

I loved this card when you demoed it and just a creation from you is gift enough. As others have said the early dies would be nice to see used if you feel you need to do something everyday but don't wear yourself out? Like one of the Wilsonettes has said not everyone has hundreds of dies or a loads of xcrafting equiupment

Hi Sue,
Love the idea of something for Mondays. But as you give enough of your time, ideas and craft goodies I think you should take time for yourself. We don't want you to burn out. Ha ha.

HI SUE
LIKE A STAINED GLASS WINDOW FAB. GREAT EMBELLISHMENT THE BOW WITH DIE AND TAG. SAW YOU DO THE DEMO ON TV. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO TRY IT OUT. (XMAS AND BOXES I HAVE BEEN MAKING). I HAVE SO MANY DIES I COULD TRY THIS WITH.
IDEA FOR A NEW GAME COULD BE HOW MANY DIES, OR NAME THE DIE, OR NAME THE SET THE STAMPED SENTIMENT COMES FROM. THAT COULD BE EXPENSIVE IF I HAVE TO LOOK IN THE CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS SHOP LOL

Hi Sue
I loved this when you demoed it on air and still love it, couldn't remember how to do it so now I can have a go as I brought this set of dies (well hubby did really lol). I think its a great idea to revisit some of the older dies as we tend to neglect them when new ones come out and also great for people who can't afford to keep buying new ones (which includes me now that I have retired), even if it is just basic shapes, it would help any new Wilsonettes and some of us oldies whose brain is not quite as good as it used to be lol. Hope this helps.

I find the black a bit too dominant on this card, for me, but do love that stained glass technique.

Thanks, Susan

Lovely stained glass window effect. Black with gold is so stylish and I missed this demo. Sorry I can't add any ideas for Mondays. Sometimes I can't keep up with the inspiration you already provide. For the first time since you 'premiered' the videos I'm playing catch-up!

I have this card sitting on my desk as I was lucky enough to get picked from the cup when you demoed it on C&C. It is even better in real life and I am going to get it framed!!!!

Hi Sue, beautiful card as usual.
I would agree with the majority of people and have a "Retro Monday" using older dies that many of us have - only if you have time in your buzy schedule.
God bless

Hi Sue, this card is stunning! Love how you've done the glitter and the effect it has made. Like you say, a stained glass window. I've had a look at the other "family" comments on the subject on what to do for Monday and I agree in one way about the older dies. It would be good to those of us who have just the few of the Spellbinder dies. But then you wouldn't have any chill out time for yourself Sue and you do soooo much. You take care too xx Love Karen xx

Hello Sue. I loved this card when I saw it live at Ally Pally. The texture is fantastic and that glitter is just to smooth. Really shows that we need touchy television. xx Maggie (better without a bow)

Hi Sue, I agree with most above about the "older" dies.
There are so many companies now trying to get on the Spellbinder die cutting wagon that it is just impossible to keep up.
I am sure you will find something to fill the Monday slot.

You already give so much to all of us. I agree with the other crafters to re-visit 'older' dies. We could have a 'Memory lane Monday' where we re-visit and see what our original dies can beused for so that they are not forgotten.
Thanks for your continued inspiration.

Hello Sue

I am so pleased you have posted this one. I loved it when I saw you demo it on TV but came to the programme late and was unable to record it. I bought those dies so am raring to try this one.

I agree that Monday could be a revision Monday or a reworking with some of the older dies. We get so captivated by the new ones that we tend to forget how lovely the earlier dies are.

Take care Sue.

Stunning card Sue. Love the design and colours.
What about demo's with older Dies for Monday's. I have so many Dies that with some of the older ones i have forgot what to do with them and they just sit in my Craft room. But on saying that anything you do would be appreciated.
